Project bedroom.. Part 1!

Me and my brother swapped bedrooms about 4 months ago. He did have the bigger room but hated keeping it tidy.. (typical!) and I wasn't going to complain at more space and a chance to decorate exactly how I want too.. so I now have a nice big room and he has one half the size! However, due to Uni commitments/being to bloody tired to do anything since the swap in the middle of February I've been living on a matress in the middle of a room covered in awful wallpaper and a disgusting pink carpet.

So, long story short, I'm decorating! My old room was lovely but I felt I'd out grown it a bit, It was very pink and girly with mixed match furniture and just a collection of 'things' I've collected over the years and never thrown away. Not good really, I'm 23 and wanted a drastic change, a fresh start, and for third year at Uni, I wanted a space I can come to and feel relaxed, without much drama and clutter. I've decided on creams, browns with a hint of purple which will come through on the 'feature' wall.

Not the best picture in the world but it shows the horrible red bottom section of wall paper and the cream/brown blobby wallpaper up the top (ew, blobby) Plus, look at that carpet. What were the previous owners thinking.. It was so dingey and blagh. But, you can see the colour I've changed the room too, a nice, hot chocolate brown I think? With cream gloss on the skirting board and day-do rail.

Anywho, this is the wallpaper I decided on with the help of my wonderful mother! I'm far to indecisive for my own good sometimes.

The purple is a little more purple in real life but I love the texture of it. I think combined with the simple block painted walls it'll look lovely <3
We decided to have the stripes going horizontally across the wall too, thought that might look a little more up to date and would maybe make the room look wider (or maybe not!)

I suppose this is a better representation of the colour I went for on the walls (it's had a 2nd and 3rd coat now so it's not patchy or two tone anymore!) But I do really love it, just can't wait to rip that carpet out! Will get a better picture once the suns out again, it's a bit late now.

And that's about as far as I've got really, the furniture's coming on Monday and the beds arriving Tuesday. I'm really, really excited about this! I'll show you some pictures actually I'm clearly not the most patient lady in the world but after living how I have for 4 months I just want to get organised! (When I say living how I have been I'm not implying I've had a sorrowful little old time living with an old, empty can of beans in my hand and asking for change) but I have been in and out of my suitcase, everything else is in the conservatory and I miss my 'things'. I want to organise my books and just set out my bits and pieces nicely.. oh it's a hard life!

But..

All from Argos!

1. The bookcase. The thing I'm most excited about! My lingerie books are going to look beautiful <3

2. The bed! I decided to get rid of a wardrobe (maybe silly, who knows) But I hate how big and bulky and just dominating they can be, and the room isn't THAT big to justify it's space being taken up like that. So the bed have huge under bed storage and I just love it <3 Compared to the single bed I've had all my life this is going to be like luxury!

3. The chest of draws. Big enough to store everything I need. Anything I don't wear often/ever! Is going on ebay. I'll pop a link up actually if anyones interested. I'm having a huge clear out.

4. Cute little bedside table <3

5. My desk! Really basic and simple. Other desks I looked at were really officey and I hated that, so this is big enough to pattern cut on and small enough to look lovely facing out the little window over looking the garden (you can see the one I mean in the top pic!)

Also went homebase and got a few little treats for the room..

How beautiful are the fairy lights! Delicate little hummingbirds <3 Lovely <3

1. The flower pot and plant - £4.99
2. The vase - £6.99
3. The humming bird lights - £14.99

All from homebase <3

I apoliogse for the length of this blog but I'm just so excited everythings coming together finally!

Talk soon lovelies! <3

Gym Bunny..

After months and months, and years and years, of yo-yoing, moaning and never reaching anywhere near my weight loss targets, I'm joining the gym, and I'm going in for my introduction tomorrow, so touch wood, this is it and I can finally enjoy the sunshine without the leggings and the oversized tops.
I already go kickboxing 3 nights a week (4 now Uni has broke up I hope, depending on how much I get into the gym) and it's great fun, and I have gained muscle, but it's still under a layer of podge (not good) So I thought an hour or so 4 nights a week after my kickboxing sessions should be enough for me to start seeing a more dramatic difference.

I'll update with measurements and what have you tomorrow when I've been and have more of an idea of what to expect, but it's safe to say I am really nervous and I don't know what it's going to be like!

A new beginning..

It’s time for me to start blogging properly, my life, my passions and my dreams (literally my dreams some days.. they’re pretty interesting!)

I have been so incredibly busy these last 8 months with Uni, I’m a second year contour student and as much as I love it, It has been the most stressful few months of my 23 year long life so far!

Course link: http://www.dmu.ac.uk/faculties/art_and_design/ug_courses/cont_fash.jsp

The posts will be things that inspire me, and I will be alot more vocal in my posts (if this isn’t something you want to see, feel free to unfollow me, but sometimes a girl needs a place to vent!)

I will be working on a number of projects over the summer which I’ll talk in more detail about as they come up, and also I’m hopefully going to be working for a gorgoues lingeire company (I’ll explain more at a later date when things are 100% confirmed) so I’ll have alot of exciting things to share!

Off to bed for the time being, I’m sleepy! After a manic few weeks preparing for a presentation with Curvy Kate and Lingeire buyer yesterday, and on average 3 hours sleep a night! I still havn’t gotten over the sleepyness <3

Talk soon lovelies xx

An update - Curvy Kate and Swimwear

Curvy kate and swimwear projects have totally dominated my life these last few weeks!

Swimwear is done, dusted and over with, loved the project and I wish I had more time to carry on with my ideas, but, what I do have I'm pleased with.
We had to choose a brand and a theme to design for, mine being Nichole De Carle (http://www.nicholedecarle.com/) and with a Nebula being my main theme for inspiration for my print. The colours found in a Nebula are stunning, deep purples and vivid pinks and blues, I felt so inspired! Rather than rambling on about it all, I'll just show a couple of pictures that sum it all up..

Initial nebula print.. was a little too pink so edited it to make the purple more vivid..

Finals on the mannequin after a manic 12 hour sewing day and one the night before too..

And ta daaaaa! Done!

Final hand in presentation display.

Now Curvy Kate, all very exciting! We were set a project by the lovely people from Curvy Kate and gave 6 weeks to produce a sketchbook and garments to show to the brand and lingerie buyer, from the show, they'd choose a fianl ten who would then go onto present formally, showing sketchbooks, illustrations, market research and the garments again on a professinal model. I'm so lucky to be one of the chosen ten who gets to show again! It's all VERY nerve wracking, and compared to the girls who I'm against, I know I won't win as their stuff is just to die for, but just to be recignised is really uplifting after such a crappy few weeks.
I'll show you my stuff anyway <3 Still have a printed baby doll, knickers and dressing gown to make before I show next, but I'm just in such a happy place at the minute.

Can you tell I like purple?

I'll keep you up to date with how I get on with it all anyway! <3

The corset project and Charnos

It's been far to long since I've updated this, I've just been so busy with Uni over the last few months It's only just died down and letting me have a day or two to breathe and do other normal things, so I'm going to do a quick update..

Last time I blogged I was talking about a corset project and how I was struggling to get going with that. Well that's done and finished and forgotten about!
This is the corset I ended up making for Holly..

Was just a simple, matt black corset with flower detail at the top edge. Was underbust in style as she is so full in the bust an overbust corset would just squash her, rather than show off her laverly boobs! This is what she made for me..

A lovely deep red little red riding hood inspired corset x

But it wasn't just making the thing we had to get the pattern cutting perfect as the garment was being graded on compression and not just how pretty it was, a tech folder, also needed to make a basque which I'll upload a pic in a sec of, erm, it was just non stop. And on top of that I had literally 8 other projects to do.

So yeah, this is the final display anyway.

You can see the basque there, a cheeky cut out bottom cup shows a little bit of skin whilst the rest is nice and fitted to hide all the lumps and bumps. Kinda shows the work load? And for only one project. But whatever it's done now. Had quite alot of illustration to do also for a trend package I had to design for AW12..

Starting to feel like I'm finally developing my own illustrator style now, which is nice, as before it's been such an issue for me to draw in a style i feel confident with, but I'm getting there I think.

also had another project which is all handed in now but I had to design a shapewear garment for Charnos. Didn't win the compition but had to present to the CEO of Charnos, Figleaves and Lingerie Buyer which was probably one of the scariest things I've ever done in my entire life.
Last picture now as I'm tired and I'm up at half 6 for Uni, but this is what I made.

Modeled by one of the most gorgeous ladies I know and also the bravest! Had her bum out all day bless her haha x

But yeah, onto term two of year two now and I feel I'm more used to the work load, however stressful it makes me feel I got through the first term so I'll manage this, and it's only like 3 months until I break up for the summer (yeah, the summer, until October. Makes me wonder what I'm paying £3,500 a year for in tuition fees but.)

So yeah, I'll be more consistent with this blog now.. honest x
